talkSPORT, the world’s biggest sports radio station, has achieved its highest ever audience according to industry figures released by RAJAR today (1 August). The official industry figures cover the second quarter of the year from 1 April - 23 June.
The station now has a record 3.25 million listeners – an 11% increase on the previous quarter and on the year. In addition, total hours have increased to 19.4 million.
talkSPORT’s exclusive commentary of the British and Irish Lions winning tour to Australia has helped to drive the record listening figures as well as contributing towards a record ABC1 adult audience of 1.9 million – the highest ever. The station has had audience lifts across the board, with all of talkSPORT’s weekday peak time shows now posting over 1 million listeners. And in the all important London market, talkSPORT has achieved an 11% increase in listeners from the previous quarter and up 17% year on year.
Calum Macaulay, talkSPORT Managing Director, said: “This is a fantastic set of figures for talkSPORT which shows that we’re not just attracting more listeners, but more ABC1 listeners, with our exclusive Lions rugby coverage proving to be a huge draw in the summer. We’ll continue to invest in our product to deliver a fantastic targeted mass audience for our advertisers and with the new Barclays Premier League season just two weeks away I can’t wait for another massive year ahead.”
talkSPORT is the global audio partner of the Premier League and official broadcaster of the FA Cup, England internationals, the Capital One Cup and Aviva Premiership Rugby.
