Sceptre buys judkins on creative thinking

Sceptre has bought a new non-fiction title by lecturer Rod Judkins about how we can transform our businesses, society and ourselves through a deeper understanding of human creativity.

Editorial director Drummond Moir pre-empted world rights to the title from Jonathan Conway at Jonathan Conway Literary Agency.

Moir said: “Anyone who picks up Rod Judkins’ new book will benefit from his crystal clear prose, counterintuitive insights, and provocative and inspiring stories. We’re thrilled that Rod will be distilling his many years of expertise into an accessible book that can make a lasting impact on any reader’s daily life.”

The Art of Creative Thinking will examine the behaviour of successful creative thinkers and explain how all of us can learn from them to improve our lives. Judkins will draw on a range of reference points, from the Dada Manifesto to Andy Warhol’s studio, via Steve Jobs, Nobel Prize winning economists and many others.

Judkins is an associate lecturer at Central St Martin’s College of Art in London, where he teaches creative thinking techniques. He has lectured on this subject at universities and businesses around the world and also blogs at Psychology Today. His first book, Change Your Mind: 57 Ways to Unlock Your Creative Potential, was published in 2013 by Hardie Grant. He has also exhibited his artwork at exhibited at galleries including Tate Britain, The National Portrait Gallery and The Royal Academy.

Sceptre will publish The Art of Creative Thinking in 2015.
